Wedding in Amalfi Coast

Italy

Why choose Amalfi Coast for your wedding?

The Amalfi Coast is drama in pure form: lemon groves, cliffs that plunge into the Tyrrhenian Sea and pastel villages stacked on ledges above the water. Positano, Ravello and Amalfi host the bulk of weddings, and each has its own character.

This is not a region for budget weddings. A full-day hire of Villa Cimbrone in Ravello starts at EUR 18,000 to 25,000 for the venue alone, before catering. But for couples who want a visually unbeatable backdrop for 30 to 60 close guests, few places in Europe can match it. Naples is the closest airport, followed by an hour of transfers along narrow coastal roads.

Weddings in Amalfi Coast - style, venues and atmosphere

Ravello is the heart of the local wedding industry. Villa Cimbrone, Villa Eva and Belmond Hotel Caruso dominate the market, all with terraces 350 metres above the sea. Ceremonies are typically held on the Belvedere, the famous infinity terrace, or among the cloister ruins. It is one of the most photographed wedding spots on the planet.

Positano leans more hotel-based. Le Sirenuse, Hotel Marincanto and Villa TreVille host smaller weddings of 20 to 40 guests and are popular with elopement couples combining the wedding with a honeymoon. Expect EUR 1,500 to 2,500 per room per night in peak season, which makes guest accommodation a major budget line.

Amalfi town itself is a quieter option, with Convento di Amalfi and the NH Collection as classic choices. For a legally binding Italian wedding, Ravello's town hall offers a beautiful intimate ceremony room, but most international couples handle paperwork at home.

The season is short: May to early October. July and August are overcrowded and hot, so May, June and September are recommended. The roads are tight; never self-drive on the wedding day, hire a local driver.

Insider tips for Amalfi Coast

  • Use a local planner like Mario Capuano or Joe Mazzeo. They have negotiated Cimbrone rates for years and secure better dates.
  • Put guests in Praiano or Minori rather than Positano: 40% cheaper with the same coastline.
  • A boat transfer between Positano and the Ravello ceremony is more scenic than the drive: roughly EUR 800 per boat for 10 people.
  • Order limoncello favours direct from Pasticceria Pansa, not the tourist shops.
  • Heels are the enemy here: warn women guests in advance, the cobbled steps are everywhere.

Our recommendation for Amalfi Coast

We recommend the Amalfi Coast for couples with 25 to 60 guests and a budget from EUR 60,000 upwards. Choose Ravello for sweeping drama, Positano for luxury and colour, Amalfi town for a calmer pace. Book at least 18 months ahead.
