Vietnam is a rising star among wedding destinations - with dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear beaches and vibrant cities.
What you need to know before planning your wedding in Vietnam
Vietnam allows legal weddings for foreigners. You need a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry from your embassy, which is then legalised at the local registry (People's Committee). The process takes 2-4 weeks and requires translated and apostilled documents.
Read more about legal requirements →Southern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc, has its dry season from October to April. Central Vietnam, Hoi An and Da Nang, is best from February to May. Northern Vietnam and Halong Bay from October to December. Avoid June to September in the central regions because of typhoon season.
Vietnam is exceptionally affordable. An intimate wedding for 20-30 guests can start around 3,500 euros, while a luxury resort wedding for 60-80 guests with catering, decor and a photographer lands around 8,500 to 17,000 euros.
Vietnamese culture places great weight on respect and family. Red and gold are considered lucky colours. Many couples weave in traditional Vietnamese elements such as the tea ceremony and the ao dai. A tip of 5-10 % is common and always appreciated.
