What you need to know before planning your wedding in Switzerland

Legal Wedding

A legal wedding in Switzerland means contacting the local civil registry (Zivilstandsamt) at least two months ahead. You need a certificate of no impediment, passports and birth certificates, all apostilled and translated. The process is administratively demanding but entirely doable.

Best Time

June to September has the best weather, 18-28 degrees. July and August are peak season. Winter weddings from December to March work in ski resorts with guaranteed snow.

Budget and Costs

Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in Europe. Expect costs 30-50 % higher than in neighbours like Italy or France. All-inclusive wedding packages do exist.

Language
