Turkey
Bodrum is Turkey's Aegean answer to the French Riviera - a peninsula of bays and villages, with marinas full of yachts in summer. The region is known for good food, design hotels and a lively summer scene around its marinas, with Yalıkavak and Türkbükü among the best-known villages.
Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) has the most direct international routes in the summer season; outside it, guests usually connect through Istanbul. Outdoor wedding season runs late spring to early autumn; July and August are hot and the resorts are full. The most comfortable window is June and September, with the sea warm and fewer crowds. Many hotels close in the winter months.
The Bodrum peninsula is known for polished beach-hotel weddings. Large five-star resorts around the bays have private beaches, several restaurants and wedding teams, while design hotels and villa resorts give a smaller, more private setting with pools and sea views. Ask any hotel what its wedding package includes, the minimum guest count and the finishing time for music.
For a boutique feel, look at Türkbükü and Yalıkavak, where beach clubs and small hotels set the tone in summer. They suit a party that wants long lunches by the water and an evening that carries on after dinner.
Boats are part of the Bodrum picture: a chartered yacht or traditional gulet for a day on the water with the closest guests, stopping in the bays around the peninsula. Book through an established operator and check the captain's licence and the boat's insurance before you sign.
Legal or symbolic. A legal wedding in Turkey is performed by the marriage office of the municipality (evlendirme memurluğu). Ask the office where you want to marry for its current document list; foreign nationals need proof that they are free to marry, legalised in their own country. The alternative is to marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on the peninsula. Symbolic or legal wedding abroad explains the difference. Too few couples have sent us a Bodrum brief to quote a budget figure; ask hotels for written quotes for your date.

Yalikavak has the most luxurious venues. Turgutreis and Gümüşlük are quieter alternatives. May and Sept-Oct offer the best weather.
We recommend Bodrum for couples wanting Mediterranean glamour and yacht culture by the Aegean. Best months are June and September. Stay in Türkbükü or Yalıkavak for a boutique feel, or near Bodrum town for walking access to the harbour and the castle. Book early for a summer weekend.
