Spain
Mallorca is northern Europe's favourite Spanish wedding destination - direct flights from London, Frankfurt and Stockholm run year-round, and the island has a mature wedding industry with English-speaking planners. Sa Coma, Deia, Pollenca and Son Servera are the regions where weddings cluster, each with a distinct character.
The style is Mediterranean finca: white stone walls, olive trees, infinity pools at the edge of the mountains. Budget EUR 25,000 to 60,000 for 60 guests at a private finca, with hotel weddings running considerably cheaper. The upper part of the island (the Tramuntana mountains) is dramatically beautiful; the east coast is more beach-focused.
Mallorca has a deep base of private fincas - farms converted into exclusive venues. Finca Comassema, Son Marroig, Sa Pleta Freda and Castell Son Claret are top names with capacity for 60 to 150 guests. Weekend hire: EUR 6,000 to 25,000 depending on prestige.
The hotel side is dominated by Cap Rocat, Belmond La Residencia, Castell Son Claret and Hotel Es Princep. Cap Rocat (an old fortress just outside Palma) is the island's most photographed venue and books 18 months ahead. Es Princep in central Palma is the city option for couples who want shorter transfers.
Deia is the artists' village in the Tramuntana - Belmond La Residencia hosts small weddings of 30 to 50 guests with mountain views. Pollenca in the north has Italianate-Venetian feel with cobbled streets. Son Servera in the east is beach territory.
Both civil weddings (at Palma's town hall) and symbolic ceremonies work. The season runs April to October, with May and September as the sweet spots. July and August work but the island's tourist peak makes logistics harder. There are at least five English-speaking planners actively working the island - use them.
Couples who want beach and elegance
115 000 - 345 000
Nordvästra delen (Valldemossa, Deià) är mest romantisk. Undvik Palma och sydkusten om ni vill ha lugn.
We recommend Mallorca for couples who want a European wedding with direct flights, an English-speaking planner and 50 to 100 guests. Choose the Tramuntana side (Deia, Soller) for drama, the east coast for beaches, the Palma area for city feel.
