The Loire Valley is France's chateau heartland, and the stretch between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Chinon, Saumur, Amboise and Tours are the hubs, and the area is as much vineyard as it is chateau. This is French royalty turned into a wedding setting.
The style is more formal and historic than Provence. Couples marry in chateaux and manor houses with towers, moats and old trees in the park. The closest large airports are in Paris (Orly or Charles de Gaulle), followed by the TGV to Tours.

Loire wedding venues range from small manor houses (manoirs) to large chateaux, and many have rooms for part of the wedding party. Ask each one early how many guests it can seat, how many it can sleep and whether the ceremony and dinner can be held in the same place.
The aesthetic is classic French: candelabra, long tables in white linen, flowers in crystal vases, French service across several courses. Wine is a big part of it - the valley's appellations include Sancerre, Chinon and Vouvray, and a vineyard visit for guests the day before is an easy addition to the weekend.
Ask the chateau whether it has its own caterer or works with a list of approved ones, and taste the menu before you sign.
